About Us

The Crime Victims Alliance (CVA) has played a crucial role since its founding in 1992, championing the rights and needs of crime victims in the State of California.

  • Comprised of survivors, advocates, and criminal justice experts, CVA focuses on enhancing support and services for those affected by violent crime, especially in light of ongoing funding cuts that have diminished available resources.

  • CVA not only raises public awareness about the lifelong impacts of crime victimization but also actively engages in legislative advocacy, promoting bills that benefit victims and opposing harmful measures.

  • CVA is dedicated to closely monitoring the Board of Parole Hearings and participating in the Commissioner confirmation process, ensuring that victims' perspectives are prioritized in important decision-making.   Our work encompasses every agency in state government that impacts victims, ensuring that their rights and needs are represented across all levels.  By actively engaging in these processes, CVA amplifies the voices of victims, advocating for their rights and needs at every level of the criminal justice system. This vigilance is crucial in shaping policies that reflect the experiences and challenges faced by those affected by violent crime.

  • Our mission underscores the vital importance of sustained support for crime victims, emphasizing that, just as offenders receive ongoing resources, victims also require continuous assistance to address the long-term effects of crime. This holistic approach is essential in fostering a more equitable and supportive environment for those impacted by violent crime.
