Become an Associate

Why Become an Associate of CVA? 

CVA is entirely volunteer-driven, and your annual Associate dues are crucial for covering operational costs. Your contributions help fund: 

 

  • Newsletters and Alerts: Producing newsletters, Action Alerts, and Information Alerts to keep our community informed. 

  • Legislative Advocacy: Monitoring bills, advocating with representatives, providing testimony at legislative hearings, writing letters, and tracking legislation that affects victims’ rights. 

  • Public Policy Advocacy: Engaging in public policy and systems change advocacy with the Victim Compensation Board, the Board of Parole Hearings, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and the Governor’s office. 

  • Oversight of the Board of Parole Hearings: Monitoring grant rates, statistical record keeping, representing victims at monthly meetings, providing information on the lifer parole hearing process, monitoring parole hearings, and participating in the Commissioner confirmation process. 

 

By becoming an Associate of CVA, you not only contribute to meaningful change but also join a community dedicated to empowering victims and advocating for their rights. Together, we can make a significant impact in California and ensure that every victim's voice is heard and respected.
