  En Banc Hearings/Decisions

En banc cases are those referred to the full Parole Board for a vote. This can occur when a case is sent back from the Governor due to concerns about the release of a particular inmate. Additionally, en banc reviews happen when a panel, consisting of one appointed Commissioner and one civil servant deputy commissioner, cannot agree on granting a parole date.

Every month, the Board of Parole Hearings (BPH) holds an open board meeting where they discuss general information regarding BPH process, etc.  and review cases that have been referred to them for further review.  At these meetings, individuals who oppose or support an inmate’s case on the agenda, can address the Board prior to their decision. These meetings provide an opportunity for survivors, inmate families, and public citizens to voice their views on en banc cases or any subject related to the Parole Board. Individuals may also speak to the full Board about any other issue such victim rights or inmate rights.  We urge you to consider attending these monthly meetings to make your voice heard. The schedule for the monthly open meetings is available on the BPH website.
